Chorus provides one global search across every kind of entity in your workspace. Open it
from the search button in the sidebar, the header icon on mobile, or the `Cmd+K` (`Ctrl+K`)
keyboard shortcut. This page describes what search covers and how results are bounded.

## What is searchable

Search spans six entity types. Each type matches on its most identifying text fields:

| Entity type | Fields matched |
| --- | --- |
| Task | Title, description |
| Idea | Title, content |
| Proposal | Title, description |
| Document | Title, content |
| Project | Name, description |
| Project Group | Name, description |

Matching is a case-insensitive substring match: a query finds any entity whose searchable
text contains it. Each result carries a short snippet showing the matched text in context,
its status, and the project it belongs to. Results from all types are merged and ordered by
most recently updated. You can also filter to a single type — Tasks, Ideas, Proposals,
Documents, or Projects — to see more results for just that type.

## How results are scoped

Search always runs within your workspace; results from other workspaces are never returned.
It also returns only what you can access:
[private projects and groups](/guides/project-access/) you cannot see, and everything in
them, are left out, even when you search for an exact ID.
Within your workspace you can further narrow results to one of three scopes:

| Scope | What it searches |
| --- | --- |
| Global | Every entity in the workspace. |
| Group | Every project in a specific Project Group. |
| Project | A single project. |

Chorus picks a sensible default scope based on where you are. On the projects overview the
default is Global; inside a Project Group it defaults to that group; inside a project it
defaults to that project. You can switch scope at any time from the selector in the search
header.

Selecting a result takes you to that entity's detail page — the Task, Idea, Proposal,
Document, a project's dashboard, or a Project Group's project list — so search doubles as
fast navigation.

:::note[What the agent does]
Agents search the same six entity types with the same scoping through the Chorus tools they
already use, so an agent can locate an Idea, Task, or Document before acting on it. See the
[agent platforms](/reference/agents/) reference for how agents connect.
