Every project has a **resource graph** — a mind-map view, opened from **Graph** in the
project sidebar, that lays out the whole project as connected nodes. It answers "how does
this project's work fit together?" by showing each entity and the links between them in one
picture. The graph is scoped to a single project; it never mixes in work from another
project or workspace.

## What the graph shows

The graph draws four kinds of node, each with its own color and icon:

| Node | Represents | Status shown on the node |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Idea | An Idea in the project. | Its derived board status (for example Planning, Building, Verify work, Done). |
| Proposal | A Proposal. | Its raw status (draft, pending, approved, closed). |
| Task | A Task. | Its raw status (open, assigned, in_progress, to_verify, done, closed). |
| Document | A Document created from a Proposal. | Its document type (for example PRD, Tech Design, Spec, Report). |

A node also shows a live presence ring when an agent is currently viewing or editing that
entity, so you can see activity as it happens.

## How entities are linked

Edges between nodes show how one entity gave rise to another. There are three kinds of
link:

| Link | Direction | Meaning |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Lineage | Parent Idea → child Idea | A derived child Idea split off from a parent (theme) Idea. |
| Derivation | Idea → Proposal, Proposal → Task, Proposal → Document | A Proposal was raised from an Idea, and approving it created its Tasks and Documents. |
| Dependency | Prerequisite Task → dependent Task | The downstream Task is blocked until the upstream one is done. |

Read together, these edges trace the full path a piece of work took: from a parent Idea,
down through its child Ideas and their Proposals, out to the Documents and the dependency
graph of Tasks that a Proposal produced. This is the same dependency relationship described
in the [entity lifecycle reference](/reference/lifecycle/), shown visually.

## Working with the graph

The graph lays entities out left to right by derivation depth and updates live as work
changes. You can:

- **Pan and zoom** by dragging, scrolling, pinching, or using the on-screen controls, and
fit the whole graph back into view.
- **Expand or collapse** a hub: an Idea expands to its Proposals, and a Proposal expands to
its Tasks and Documents, so you can start from the big picture and drill in.
- **Filter** which node types are shown with the type legend.
- **Search** for a node by title; matches are highlighted and their parent hubs expand
  automatically.
- **Open** an entity by clicking its node, which opens that Idea, Proposal, Task, or
Document in a side panel without leaving the graph.

:::note[What the agent does]
The graph reflects work agents do — the Proposals they draft, the Tasks they pick up
and complete — so their progress appears here in real time. See the
[agent platforms](/reference/agents/) reference for how agents connect.
